Employers
Covered
- Nearly all employers including small businesses, state and local governments, non-profits, and other typically tax-exempt associations
Not Covered
- Federally recognized tribes and self-employed workers unless they opt in
- Federal employers
- Certain employers subject to collective bargaining agreements
Employees
Covered
- All employees with 820 hours worked in a qualifying period, including public and private sector
- Domestic workers
- Self-employed workers who opt in

- Certain workers not automatically eligible for paid leave under state law

Types of Leave
Family
Up to 12 weeks* in a 52-week period for caring for a family member with a serious health condition, or for spending time with a family member that is in the military about to be deployed overseas or returning from deployment.
Medical
Up to 12 weeks in a 52-week period for a personal serious health condition that prevents you from working. An additional 2 weeks may be used if you experience a condition in pregnancy that prevents you from working.
Cumulative Limit: Up to 16 weeks* of combined family and medical in a 52-week period

Benefit Amount: 90% of a worker’s average weekly wage up to half of the state average, and 50% of a worker’s average weekly wage above half of the state average Maximum weekly benefit = $1,456 in 2024 |
