Who is Covered?

Employers

Covered
  • All employers except the federal government must participate
  • County, municipal and school districts employers may elect coverage for Temporary Disability Insurance (TDI)

Employees

Covered
  • Most NJ workers
Not Covered
  • Federal government employees
  • Out-of-state employees
  • Workers that are not technically employees

 

Types of Leave

Family

Up to 12 consecutive weeks or up to eight weeks (56 days) of intermittent leave in a 12 month period to bond with a newborn, newly placed adoptive or foster child, or to provide care for a seriously ill or injured family member, and can  also be used for safe leave*

Medical

Up to 26 weeks for any 12-month period for a  physical or mental health condition or other disability unrelated to their work

Benefit Amount: up to 85% of a worker's average weekly wage

Maximum weekly benefit = $1,055 for 2024 and $1,801 for 2025
