Covered
- All employees of covered state employers
- Employees of employers who opt in
- Employees may also opt in if their employer is too small to participate and does not offer an equivalent plan, or if their employer declines to participate and does not offer an equivalent plan
- Medical leave is only available if the employer doesn't provide short-term disability, and the employee's serious health condition is unrelated to work. Medical leave is not available to state employees.
Not Covered
- Federal employees
- Employees of employers choosing not to participate
Types of Leave
Family
Up to six weeks or 12 weeks in a 12-month period for caring for a family member with a serious health condition, or bonding with a child during the first year of birth including fostering and adoption
Military
Up to six weeks or 12 weeks in a 12-month period for an qualifying exigency regarding a family member in military, or for caring for next of kin serious illness of injury
Medical
Up to six weeks or 12 weeks in a 12-month period for your own serious health condition when disability coverage does not apply; includes childbirth
